A nocturnal hike across a mountainous plain with a group called Tramuntana. We observed the sun setting behind the range as Valencia and Alicante transformed into orange embers of city lights. The port became a black glass tray of gold and bronze flecks. We rested after intervals of hiking for the guide to explain owl cries surrounding us, for the group to peer at the blood red moon eclipsing that night, and to lie on cool sands at a beach after the trail.
We left Alicante at 8 pm and returned at 3 am. The streets were bustling while I waited for a taxi back to my host home. So New York isn't the only city that doesn't sleep.

Just before the sun set.
The blood moon becoming orange. My phone's camera couldn't capture the night sky too clearly. Nature is too powerful for cables and buttons to contain.
(The rims of orange under the moon are clouds containing some moonlight).
